Treaty won't fix taxing problem
However, this might be a tad irresponsible given how important the treaty will be for our future.
So, I listened to the arguments, particularly the danger presented to our advantageous 12.5pc corporation tax rate in the light of European tax harmonisation.
The pro-Lisbon lobby insist that we have a veto on this topic and that we cannot be forced to raise our rate to European levels.
Nobody has pointed out that our European partners could just as easily lower their rate and settle on our 12.5pc tax rate all across the EU, thus wiping out our advantage.
The Lisbon Treaty will not protect us from that.
