Time to stand up and be counted

WHEN the Government told us that the public sector pay and recruitment cuts were vital to fill the massive hole in our public finances, they failed to tell the people why there was a massive hole in the public finances.

Instead, people were led to believe it was all due to overpaid public servants and a bloated public sector.

The piece of information that the Government did not give to the public was that the hole in the public finances was caused by the Government giving huge tax breaks to wealthy developers, pensioners and others, along with ridiculously low taxation for people on huge incomes. The Government also did nothing to curtail the many tax-avoidance schemes.
