Time to reassess roads spending

NOW that 30,000 cars and trucks have vanished from our roads and given that the trend is set to continue, it would be an opportune time for Transport Minister Noel Dempsey to review the massive spending on roads infrastructure and the out-of-date figures that have been used by the NRA to justify building these overblown projects.
There have been reports in the media of late concerning the spectre of 'ghost roads', adding to the Babylonesque mix of Celtic Tiger leftovers.
Not only has the Disney production called the Celtic Tiger turned our country into an eerie theme park of empty shopping centres and 'ghost estates', we are now heading fast forward into the final fantasy act, with our very own supply of 'ghost roads'.
