Time for new light through old windows

As someone for whom I have always had a lot of respect, I had to tune out of the presidential address of Michael Higgins (I purposely dropped the 'D', as it is self-important).

Apparently "some" people will have difficulties this Christmas, according to President Higgins. That should of course be "most".

There are, apparently, "difficulties" that we have to overcome... I take it this is a reference to some of the most blatant corruption in the western world that flourished and still flourishes here?
