Madam –Your editorial (Sunday Independent, February 17, 2013), states that "five years into the worst recession in our history, citizens are anxiously seeking leadership from its political classes".
In your editorial you also state that the present Government "may have utterly squandered its political inheritance".
Given that it was the absence of criticism of previous governments that contributed to our present problems, I would not dream of defending the present Government from deserved criticism.
Your editorial, however, ignores the fact that it was the mistakes, and the absence of true leadership, during the Celtic tiger period and long before the recession hit that bankrupted the country.
