This is a deeply racist country

Well said, Denise Charlton ('We need action against race hate', Letters, February 16).

In a country in which verbalising racist sentiments is seen as simply "having an opinion", it's high time you stopped looking over the water to complain about a country that already has some of the best anti-race-hate laws in the world.

Any Irish person visiting, or living in, the UK today, is highly unlikely to be racially abused.
