Third-level cuts the final straw

As a second year student at University College, Cork, I am absolutely disgusted at the proposed cuts to third-level education due to come in with the next Budget.

And as a student from a county with no higher education institute, I am forced to live away from home in order to pursue my degree. This leaves me with the cost of accommodation and living expenses on top of an already exorbitant registration fee.

If the fee increase comes in then I simply do not know how I will be able to afford to finish my degree. The Government speaks of building a "knowledge economy", but this is simply never going to happen when we are seeing more and more graduates leave the country every day.
