There's Room for improvement
I was watching RTE's 'The View', one of the very few arts discussion programmes on Irish TV. One of the items under review was Emma Donoghue's new novel, 'Room', which has been shortlisted for a major prize.
John Kelly hosted the show, and there were three other people on the show to give their feedback. They all loved Donoghue's book. The praise was almost hushed.
When there is such a consensus of praise, I realise how important the voice of dissent is.
