There's only one Merrion Square

Leave it to Tom Cooper to find a novel literary political figure to honour in obliterating our rich heritage ('Honour for Wilde not appropriate', Letters, May 14).

While Speranza was an interesting minor figure in her own right, Oscar is perhaps too controversial.

Speranza is a fine appellation -- perhaps a trendy up-market mews lane in the area could benefit.
