There is no political alternative in the State

Since its founding, the State has been run by two parties with no discernible differences in policy, whose raison d'etre has been to feather the nests of themselves and their friends.
Irish democracy is not being killed by the EU; it committed suicide many decades ago to be replaced by crony capitalism of the worst sort.
This opinion splashes blame all around but never once acknowledges that maybe a subservient press and an equally docile people did not act to change the rotten crony system.
