Letters to the Editor

Sir — Congratulations on your beautiful tribute to the wonderful man and poet Brendan Kennelly (Sunday Independent, February 5).

Can I just add my tuppence worth and recall a time from the 1970s that I hope Brendan himself might remember?

It was in Christy Grace’s bar (lost to progress now) on the corner of Townsend Street and Moss Street in Dublin’s south inner city. A Monday morning it was and a boisterous gang of us from the nearby International Meat Company in Grand Canal Street had gathered there (don’t ask) not long after its early opening time.
