The suffering of greyhounds
In a recent government report in Britain (there are none here) it has been stated by the RSPCA that "at least 20 greyhounds a day -- either puppies which do not make the track, or 'retired' dogs aged three or four -- simply 'disappear', presumed killed".
As a supposed nation of dog- lovers, we should hang our heads in shame.
Many members of the public who support the racing industry by betting on greyhounds may not be aware that they are contributing to the suffering and slaughter of thousands of unwanted greyhounds every year.
Recent national media articles have revealed the shocking and appalling truth of the suffering and abuseto which racing greyhounds are subjected.
In Ireland, dogs have been found dead and alive without their ears due to tattoos which would identify their origin.
