The poverty line

As I pack my bags to go and open an orphanage on Christmas Day in Liberia, where 76pc of the population live below the poverty line of $1 (€0.76) a day and 52pc live under $0.50 (€0.38) a day, I learn that the outgoing chief executive of the Irish Medical Organisation is receiving a gold-plated retirement deal worth nearly €10m.
This includes contractual entitlements of €20m, a settlement worth €9.7m and a pension fund of €4.5m. Apparently, he is walking away with a lump sum of €1.5m and delayed pension payments of €3.75m.
I for one am cancelling my membership of this organisation.
