•'A noble man of quiet virtue' was how our Taoiseach introduced our ninth President, Michael D.

There is much virtue in staying quiet these days, especially if you are a politician, when the only time they seem to open their mouths is to take their foot out.

But, I'd like to believe that the 'D' in Michael D will stand for "different". It is appropriate that it actually stands for "Daniel" because the little man who came to the Aras from a humble beginning in Limerick, via Clare and on to Galway, eventually ending up in the Park, is certainly now in the lion's den.
