Terminal solution to airport link

KEVIN Myers is one of the few in Ireland today who seems to talk any sense. I congratulate him in exposing the Metro North project for what it is, a €5bn vanity project that shall benefit very few.
If a rail link to Dublin Airport is deemed vital enough, then anyone who would even glance at a map of north Co Dublin would surely see that the obvious option would be to connect to the existing Dublin-Belfast line near Old Portmarnock.
This line would be around 6km to 7km, completely overground (save for navigating the M1), and could terminate at an overground station, which could be located either north or south of the airport.
