Telling the truth about Markievicz

Paddy Clancy's article on Constance Markievicz ('Campaign seeks return of Markievicz banner', Irish Independent, April 5) shows him to be unaware that her claim to be a countess was false. This is based on the evidence of her brother Josslyn and her stepson Stanislaus.
The idea of her greatness is just as false. She was implicit in the shooting of unarmed Constable Lahiff and a man with a handcart and also tried to shoot a doctor.
Digging trenches in St Stephen's Green in 1916 was not a good tactic as the attacking soldiers could shoot down on them from the roof of the Shelbourne Hotel.
