Teach respect ahead of religion
In Friday's letters page Frank White comments on the story concerning a father angry at a school for making his son pray several times a day.
Perhaps Mr White didn't notice the school had given the parent the option to opt in or out of religious education. The parent chose to opt out, but the school ignored this request.
No one is asking anyone to "deprive the majority of children of having religious teaching so as not to offend some people". All the father wanted was for the school to honour the agreement they had made with him.
