TDs who voted not to ban 'bloodsports' should have to take part
I've been meaning to write in support of John Fitzgerald's indefatigable solo campaign condemning so-called 'bloodsports' (Irish Independent, January 6) for a while now.
Consent is a sine qua non of any sporting occasion. This is lacking in so-called 'bloodsports', which makes the term a complete misnomer.
But let's imagine that consent is not a requirement and extend this hypothesis to humans. Conor McGregor could burst into your room in the middle of the night, chase you out of your house, down the road, into the nearest field and beat you into oblivion, while his fans cheered on. Plus there's no referee.
