Take care

•I am fortunate to have the use of an electric wheelchair to keep me mobile but you would not believe the number of times I have had close shaves with drivers or the amount of times I have had people completely ignore me.

Today I was going to the shopping centre at The Square in Tallaght. I had stopped at the pedestrian crossing and when the light turned green for me to cross I was nearly hit by a car that could not be bothered to stop. I was with my son so I was travelling quite slow. The chair can achieve a fast pace, one I use when on my own, and had I been using that speed you would have been covering my story.

Even pedestrians look at me as if I have two heads. I had one girl step over me as I was going through a door into the centre. I was already halfway in when she just stepped over me to the side -- she could not even wait for me to go through the doorway.
