Suicide anguish

• Almost two winters ago, my sister hung herself in her garden shed, leaving behind an 11-year-old daughter and a distraught family.

She was a beautiful and kind person. She was a nurse in a busy emergency room, who routinely helped save other people's lives and brought joy to those in need.

Do people who share Kevin Myers's view of suicide honestly believe that such an act is a sane decision based on selfishness, carelessly choosing to end it on a whim?
