Stringer would have struggled

THE passing skills of Ireland’s reserve scrum-half Peter Stringer are praised by John B Reid (Letters, November 8).

He goes on to pose two questions – for the selectors, I presume – the second being: “How different might Saturday’s match result have been for Ireland if Stringer had started the match?”

While I am a huge fan of Stringer, I don’t think that all the passing skills in the world would have been much use to him if he had not regular access to the ball.
