SOMEONE once said that Eamon de Valera was the Spanish onion in the Irish stew but today's main ingredients consist of Brussels sprouts, sour kraut and a good dash of bitter lemon to round it off.

  • WHEN I read that 17pc of the electorate would vote Fianna Fail in the next General Election, I thought to myself that their TDs must either come from very large families or have lots of very close friends to have such support in Ireland at this time.
