But back when I was a boy scout, many moons ago, it didn't cost us a thought to leave a tent, packed with all our valuables and secured with nothing more than a zip, for an entire day, whilst we went exploring the Wicklow Mountains. Sadly, those days are no more.
When I became a born-again camper and bought my camper van nine years ago, I was inundated with advice, from the camper-van salesmen to the Motorcaravan Club to the people who sold me the accessories for my new toy, never to 'wild camp'.
