Staying on track with new Metro

I AM writing this after reading G O'Dowd’s letter (September 3) about the Metro North. I felt there was a need to explain some of his incorrect facts.

Firstly, the writer’s point of continuing the railway line from Drumcondra to the airport would not be possible unless it ran underground or a was tram similar to the Luas as the area around the station is heavily built up.

Secondly, both north Dublin city and county badly need the Metro North. Most people only see it as an underground rail service from the city centre to the airport but it will be used by the thousands of people that live close to the line.
