Stay fearless and insightful
Sir -- I am a native of Co Antrim and, although my political views are unorthodox, I am certainly in the camp that supports the political union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is, therefore, curious that I find myself going out of my way to read a Dublin-based news publication.
The reality is that when the Celtic Tiger was at its peak the Irish economy was a step ahead of the UK, and then, of course, when the global economy started to unravel the Irish were a step ahead as well.
It makes sense to me then, as a northerner, to look down South to stay on top of what is going on in the world. The Sunday Independent, I've discovered, produces a level of journalism to match the best of the British broadsheets, but more significant for me is that you seem to be genuinely 'independent'.
