State neglecting gifted children

IN response to John Kelly ('Gifted children are our future', Letters, November 11), I am fortunate that I have had two of my own children attend the Irish Centre for Talented Youth (ICTY) for a number of years.

The Government unfortunately does not give a damn about nurturing these bright children, be they gifted academically or in other fields.

Two years ago it cut the annual €90,000 the ICTY receives, which has resulted in bigger classes, etc.
