Stance on torture

Sir -- I was somewhat taken aback by Ruth Dudley Edwards' article under the headline 'Incredible Hulk leaves Obama healthcare plan floundering'.
Scott Brown's previous career as a nude centrefold model for Cosmopolitan magazine, which is lovingly invoked in the opening paragraph, doesn't seem to me to be either a positive or a negative, merely irrelevant to his political career. Indeed his photographic image may well have given fleeting pleasure to American women and men during the 1980s.
What is surprising is the gloating tone employed about the Tea (Taxed Enough Already) party -- which objects to any redistribution of wealth (strange since so many of them pretend to be Christians) -- and Brown's apparent determination to sink Obama's democratisation of the inadequate American health service, and the complete absence of any reference in the article to the new Senator's enthusiastic endorsement of water boarding i.e. torture.
