Spared . . . Punished . . . Remember Niall . . . Bonus tax
As the daughter of a pensioner, I was relieved to see that pensioners are being spared any cuts in this Budget.
My parents emigrated in the 1950s and, like the majority of pensioners, kept Ireland afloat during those harsh times by sending money home. On returning to Ireland in the 1960s, they continued to contribute through taxes. They have more than earned their free TV licence and travel.
