It is now clear that the strategy of all the political parties is simple -- come together and hide under Brian Lenihan's umbrella, cleverly touted by the Green party leader. Get consensus on the horrific cuts that lie ahead and the body politic as we currently know it will survive. Boiled down, it amounts to "escape together or hang together".

None of the political parties has a clue how to get us out of the mess we are in. Information that the Government is aware of and that is detrimental to its own prospects of survival is given out grudgingly.
