Selling the Book of Kells

Will one of Ireland's
historic treasures – The
Book of Kells – be sold off
to the highest bidder as
part of the Government's
latest money-making
ideas?

•Thomas Molloy's article ("Who owns what in Ireland and what does it all add up to") was very informative. As a citizen of the Irish State, I am part owner, along with four million other citizens, of all those state assets that could well be on the selling block.

And guess what? We do not want this nation to be sold off in piecemeal fashion to the bankers/ speculators/racketeers at any auction.

The fact that the Book of Kells was given a pricetag of €100m in yesterday's article reminds me of the WB Yeats line, of people "fumbling in the greasy till".
