Selective truths from Ryanair
In relation to Stephen McNamara's (Ryanair) clarification (Letters, Irish Independent, February 9) in response to a letter by Olive O'Sullivan, he is being selective with his information.
For example he does not inform the reader that while Ryanair allows you a check-in baggage allowance of 15kg, Aer Lingus has an allowance of 20kg.
Therefore, when combined with the cabin baggage allowance offered by both airlines it is ahead by 26kg to Ryanair's 25kg.
Furthermore, he fails to inform the passenger that while you may indeed have a larger weight limit for Ryanair cabin baggage, you will have to fit it into a smaller bag than that which Aer Lingus affords you for its 6kg.
Finally, given the smaller dimensions of the cabin bag provided for by Ryanair it does not seem to me to be reasonable to suggest that people place laptops etc within the cabin bag.
