Segregation in schools a reality
Monday May 05 2008
Here, in close proximity, two 'Catholic' schools, one for Catholics and one for the non-Catholics (excluded from the original school) are clearly identifiable to any observer as racially segregated.
This has been acknowledged by the archdiocese itself in its 'piloting' of a new enrolment policy concerning the allocation of 30pc of school places. However, it must be remembered that this departure from its original, unilateral and grossly ill-considered policy is sadly belated and limited to only two schools in the Dublin 15 area.
Catholic primary schools are funded by taxpayers who have no need whatsoever to apologise for their accurate and critical observations.
