Seanad reform talk is beside the question

In the ongoing university panel Seanad election campaign, a number of candidates are prioritising the issue of Seanad reform, each with individual proposals on this point.
However, we have to face the reality that a general election has just concluded where the main parties brought the proposal of a Seanad abolition referendum to the people and this policy has been given significant credence by the mandate the parties now have.
In this context, it is important to stress that current Seanad reform proposals are likely to be superfluous.
