Rory is a reason to be cheerful

We are in the most negative of times. But there are moments of such grand achievement that we can't stay cynical for long in the face of it. An example of this is 21-year-old Irish golfer, Rory McIlroy, who won his first US PGA tournament earlier in the summer.
He broke the course record by 2, his final-day score was a 10 under par and overall he was a 15 under par, which is a phenomenal result in any golfing tournament.
He has been on the professional circuit for almost three years, winning the Dubai Classic some months ago. Even Tiger Woods said recently that he didn't play as well as Rory did at the age of 18, when he could hit the strongest of drives. Sports journalists refer to him affectionately as the 'youngster' because of his boyish good looks, but 'young man' is more appropriate.
