Rolland's red

•It seems unfair that a Welshman should be asked to pay the ultimate price for a spear-tackle made on Brian O'Driscoll by two All Blacks in 2005, but sport can be cruel.

Wales were outstanding and played with real heroism but Alain Rolland's decision to show the inspirational Sam Warburton the red card was the right thing to do.

The lift, twist and drop tackle is dangerous and has no place in any game. The IRB warned referees this year that there was no room for latitude. One watched Vincent Clerc careering towards the ground with a sickening feeling.
