Right to life

• As a male born in 1952 with a cleft lip and palate, had current scan technology been available, should my mother have had the option to abort me, knowing my condition?

This is the awkward issue posed by the call for abortion on demand, rarely addressed or discussed by the media.

While I accept the difficulties posed by 'X' and other recent tragic situations, many Irish citizens and parents like myself who never had an issue with the availability of contraception or married/unmarried/same-sex partnerships do have a difficulty with the concept of abortion on demand.
