Rewriting role of the Labour Party
Eamon Delaney's attempt to rewrite the facts (Irish Independent, April 14) about Labour's role in government at local and national level should not go unchallenged. He ignores the fact that it was a Labour finance minister who led this country into a financial credit situation while the same government, in which Labour played a key role, created more jobs than on any other occasion in Irish history.
Contrary to what he suggests, as a Labour Dublin City councillor I received no instruction from anyone as to how I should vote regarding the 30kmh limit on the Dublin quays.
I drafted and submitted an amendment to the scheme that reflected a series of commonsense points, made during public debate.
