• To those TDs who publicly have stated they will not pay the €100 household charge and are calling on other citizens to do likewise, I say they are a disgrace to our democratic process and to their own constituents. What they are doing is sending out a message to the general public to only obey those laws that you feel are in your interest.
Is there a time to break the law -- in the spirit of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi and others? Yes! But only after four steps have been followed and adhered to. I wonder if these TDs have any idea of the steps needed to freely break the law in the spirit of non-violence. I doubt it. If citizens, much less elected officials, feel free to break the law on a whim, what they are promoting is anarchy.
