Recognise our true friends
Sir -- A hundred years isn't long in the story of a people. On reading Eoghan Harris and Frederick Forsyth, (Sunday Independent, October 17, 2010), one is left wondering about decisions and actions taken on behalf of the Irish people over the years.
The precipitate, premature sundering of Ireland from the Union, an action taken by a secret, self-selected society, has left us with a century of violence, poverty, emigration, benightedness and separation.
With 2016 looming, perhaps it's timely to question the truth behind the veil of confabulation, propaganda and self-serving shibboleths that have been dished up to the Irish people as orthodox narrative. The Irish were never consulted by their warlords, political or spiritual.
