Reckless drivers should pay costs
I HEARD on the radio of new government proposals to compel learner drivers to take a minimum number of lessons prior to sitting the test.
The main reason why young men drive recklessly on the roads is quite simply because they can; they think that there are no serious consequences. There is, of course, the possibility of death or serious injury – but young men think they are indestructible.
Car insurance was developed to protect innocent victims from financial loss due to other road users’ recklessness, but its very existence is unwittingly putting us all at greater risk.
