Rail project will boost passengers

ANDREW Lally (Letters, February 8), in commenting on development plans for Dublin's Tara Street train station, misunderstands the impact of the DART Underground on passenger numbers through Tara Street.
Far from reducing throughput, the improved integration between rail modes and enhanced frequency of services that DART Underground will generate a growth in passenger throughput.
Under DART Underground, one of the two core DART lines -- Maynooth to Bray/Greystones -- will see all services travel through Tara Street, connecting with the Drogheda/Howth to Hazelhatch line at nearby Pearse Station.
