Rail bargains for travel to Britain

FURTHER to the interesting recent letters vis-a-vis rail fares, I would like to point out that it is possible to purchase an all-in ticket from any railway station in Ireland to any rail station in Britain.

This ticket is known as a sail-rail ticket and includes the trio of rail travel in Ireland, the ferry crossing and rail travel to a destination in England, Wales or Scotland.

For instance, one can travel from Ballina or any other Co Mayo station to London for €60, via the sea routes from either Dun Laoghaire or Dublin to Holyhead.
