•Rather than the preoccupation of several columnists and numerous letter writers with 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves', I think 'Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass' is more pertinent to the current presidential race. Dana is Alice, lost in a "foreign" land.
David Norris, initially the March Hare (given his popularity back then), but recently transformed into Humpty Dumpty. Martin McGuinness, a shoo-in for the Cheshire Cat following the latest opinion polls. Sean Gallagher, likewise, hurtles up the ranks to be the White Knight. Mary Davis's poster campaign befits the Red Queen, while Michael D's "stately" bearing cements his role as the Red King.
The Queen of Hearts? -- well, there is a lot of competition for this character, but let's award it to Gay Mitchell, as he hollers "Off with his Head" to Martin McGuinness's smiling Cheshire Cat.
