Queen's visit is good for business
We are all victims of history but not prisoners of history. Look at Germany, Japan and the US, now the closest of allies despite the millions of lives lost in World War Two.
Robbie Burns wrote: "That man to man the world o'er, Shall brothers be for a' that." What he means is that global trade will make us brothers dependent on each other.
If we want to join the smart economy we must cooperate with our neighbours in pushing out the frontiers of knowledge. Queen Elizabeth is head of state of our nearest neighbour, biggest market for goods and the tourists easiest to attract.
