Property tax will be the final insult

THE property tax may prove to be the last straw.

A recent article warned of a massive mortgage default and announced that about 100,000 mortgages were already "under water".

Some months ago, ministers and TDs were aghast when Irish mortgage providers increased their interest rates in the midst of the ECB's historically low rates, pushing hard-pressed mortgage holders closer to the edge.
