While admitting that 'Trump might have sounded more like a president', the headline for Jennifer Rubin's comment piece added 'but trite speech was full of empty promises' (Irish Independent, March 2).

It seems that most journalists cannot get over the fact that Donald Trump was elected US president and, while it is acknowledged that practically all politicians make empty promises, he has come under most criticism for attempting to fulfil his pre-election ones.

Could we have a bit more balance please, instead of a constant barrage of criticism because the election did not go the way that the media in the US and, indeed, Ireland expected and wished for?
