President should stay quiet on tax

Sir -- Using President McAleese to defend corporation tax is an unwelcome precedent.

The office of the elected head of our Republic should not be manipulated in this matter. One day soon the rate of our corporation tax will be altered by forces beyond our control and the stature of President will have been diminished by this short-sighted decision!
