Praise for crusty ol' codger Harris
Sir -- Eoghan Harris (Sunday Independent, January 16, 2011) writes of the courage of others both in their personal health and in their political stances, and typically gives praise when he sees it is deserving.
Mr Harris has been having his own health battle for a number of years, and once again faces into a very difficult period of treatment. I can say he will face it with the courage he has shown in the past.
There is nothing amiss with his sharpness and clarity of thought, thankfully, and I hope he won't mind me saying that from the times when he took my little boy sailing in Baltimore Bay in his small boat, to bestowing upon myself sound personal advice and direction in a variety of matters, I have come to know a very decent and good man. We wish him well. And I know he will feel a certain embarrassment at being so described. The crusty ol' codger has done this State some service.
