Pope must lead Vatican reform
Monday November 23 2009
Whatever shape reforming the Vatican takes, whether it be selling its art or the Vatican State, as suggested by previous letter writers, it must be reformed. As Cardinal Ratzinger, Pope Benedict XVI advocated reform of the Curia. So far nothing is happening.
As it stands, the Vatican is an obstacle to the poor Christ about whom popes, bishops and priests preach so much.
Pope Benedict XVI could learn a good lesson from his predecessor, Pope Benedict XV.
It is said that he was so dedicated to war relief that when he died in 1922, he left the Vatican almost bankrupt and they had to borrow money to bury him.
Christ would say Amen to that.
