I agree with Killian Foley-Walsh (Letters, August 31). We're not a monarchy so don't need a pseudo-monarch. In the short term, I'd get rid of state funerals for former presidents, which cost over €1m. They enjoyed enough pomp and ceremony in their lives.
Castleknock, Dublin 15 l Mick Lally was part of our collective experience through his great performances on television, radio, film and theatre. A giant of Irish life now sadly gone from us. Thanks Mick.
